I am a Ph.D. student in the Lifespan Cognitive Neuroscience and Cognitive Sciences concentration. I earned a BSc and an Honours BSc in Psychology from the University of Groningen, as well as a Research MSc in Psychology from the University of Amsterdam, where I majored in Cognitive Neurosciences and Psychological Methods. During my master’s, I worked as a Research Intern at the Social Brain Lab, which is led by Dr. Christian Keysers and Dr. Valeria Gazzola, and during my thesis, at the lab of Dr. David Amodio at NYU & UvA, where I most recently studied the role of adaptive empathy in prejudice. I am deeply fascinated by the social neuroscience of empathy and its role in mental disorders like psychopathy, which I will focus on during my Ph.D. I am always eager to support my research with state-of-the-art methods, including computational modeling and machine learning, as well as Open Science.
