Congratulations to Dr. Shawn Rhoads, who successfully defended his dissertation, “Understanding others and valuing their welfare: The neural basis of interpersonal accuracy, social learning, and altruistic choices.” Friends, family, and colleagues got to hear Shawn present the findings from three ambitious neuroimaging studies he has conducted that focus on the role of the medial prefrontal cortex (and other regions) that help facilitate adaptive social interactions.
